18 year old guitar phenom shows us his chops. By Will Young
We had the pleasure of getting to know Gabe Condon today with an impromptu visit from Penfield NY's own guitar phenom. Aside from being an incredibly well spoken, and delightful guy, the dude has some serious chops. Michael Laiacona (our beloved president and owner) wasted no time in sitting him down in front of an amp, our pedal effects and our test strat to hear what this guy had under the hood. He didn't disappoint and laid into some hot jazz, followed by a Hendrix-ish blues progression, then surprised us with a little James Taylor (vocals and all). We all exchanged stories and life lessons that I'm sure he will take to heart as he begins his musical career, then we lightened it all up with a delicious meal at Mr. D's. We are honored to know Gabe as he is a class act that will surely leave his mark if not today but down the road as a guitar player/vocalist that we get to say we met way back when. Good luck Gabe!
Gabe Condon was the recipient of the Downbeat Magazine's 2008 Honorable Mention in the Rock Guitar Catagory, and the 2010 Exceptional player award in the Jazz Guitar Category and currently attends the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY.
