Washington Professional / Kennedy Center Color-coded Drop Boxes

The requirement for these drop boxes was for them to be color-coded. Whirlwind's Custom Shop solved this by fabricating custom color overlays. These overlays are made of a layer of white under a layer of colored laminate. The sheets are cut to size, punched and engraved.

The engraving is accomplished with our laser machine by precisely controlling the power and duration of the beam so it removes only the colored laminate leaving the white underside exposed. This process provides a crisp, clean appearance and also makes it relatively simple and inexpensive to add the Kennedy Center logo to all the boxes.
