SPLIT 6
LINE LEVEL PARALLEL SPLITTER

|
Use this handy box when you need to split a line level signal up to 6 times*.
Features 1 female XLR input wired to 6 male XLR outputs.
Perfect when adding extra amplifiers to a system, connecting multiple powered
speakers, splitting intercom lines, etc.
*
Line
level outputs can usually be split 6 times without noticeable loss of signal
quality.
The actual number of splits that can be accomplished depends on the level of the
source signal and the impedances of the source and destinations in a particular
application.
It is not recommended that the SPLIT 6 be used to split a
microphone
level signal to more
than two outputs. Attempting to do so may result in poor frequency response and
reduced signal level. The SPLIT 6 may be used to split microphone level signals
in most applications if this limit is observed. For more information, please

WHEN WILL I NEED A SPLITTER?
|
As your sound system expands, it will eventually be necessary to provide
additional mixes from locations other than the main mix position. Although it's
possible to provide a separate monitor mix from the main console, a person
located nearer to the performance area can hear what the performers hear, see
their cues more easily and just generally be able to provide a better monitor
mix.
Or you may be called upon to provide a separate mix for recording or
broadcasting your performances. That mix will be at its best if the person
providing it is isolated from the confusion of hearing the live sound. In any
event, you'll most likely need to split your mic signals and feed more than one
mixing console.

AS8X4
ACTIVE SPLITTER
|
The Whirlwind AS8X4 microphone splitting system provides
a new level of versatility for systems requiring 5-way mic splitting
for as few as 8 or as many as 80 channels.
This system is based on rack mount modules, each having the
capability of splitting 8 mic channels to 1 direct (passive) and 4
active destinations. A pair of high quality Lundahl transformers (Sweden)
on each channel provide superior noise rejection and balancing making
this unit the ideal choice in applications where extremely long cable
runs are required.
Each channel features push-buttons for engaging a 20dB input pad, 48V
phantom power and a button for placing the channel into "listen" mode which
adds it to a
headphone monitoring buss.
A three step LED monitors available headroom.
All audio connections are
made via Phoenix terminal strips for easy, solderless, on site termination.
Internal dip switches are provided for each channel which set ground lift
status and provide 20dB, 30dB or 40dB of gain boost.
Four power supplies are available, configured with the appropriate Wattage for
the number of AS8X4 units required. The AS8P4 and AS8P6 include the audio
monitoring electronics, the AS8P10 is two-piece with a 2 RU rack enclosure for
the audio monitoring and a separate 8 RU rack enclosure containing the PSU.
(An audio monitoring section is integrated into the AS8PS1 (pictured), AS8PS4
and AS8PS6. It is a separate 2 RU unit included with the AS8PS10.)
AS8PS1
- Powers a single AS8X4 unit, 2 RU
AS8PS4
- Powers up to 4 AS8X4 units, 4 RU
AS8PS6
- Powers up to 6 AS8X4 units, 6 RU
AS8PS10
- Powers up to 10 AS8X4 units, 2 RU, (Monitor) + 8 RU (PSU)

The Whirlwind SPC8x series of passive microphone splitters are the ideal,
expandable solution for permanent installations.
Each unit provides 8 channels of mic level splitting circuitry in a single rack
space unit. Depth is 7.5" including tie bar.
All connections are made via removable Phoenix style connectors - cable end
connectors are included.
A set of dip switches is provided for each ISO output for lifting the ground
connection between input and ISO output. (The SPC83P-S provides convenient
front panel buttons for engaing phantom power and ground lifting each iso
channel.)
Rear tie-bar is provided for attaching cables securely to avoid accidental
disconnects.
The SPC82 and SPC82P provide one direct and one transformer isolated output per
channel, the SPC83 and SPC83P provide one direct and two isolated outputs per
channel. Whirlwind transformers are used throughout. They are available with
Jensen
transformers, add "JT" to the model number. SPC83 and SPC83P are available with
premium Lundahl transformers, add "LUNT" to the model number.
Units are also available in line level versions SPC82L and SPC83L.
The SPC82P and SPC83P feature rear terminal connections for injecting phantom
power at the splitter with the optional
Whirlwind DCSP1
(replaces PS48)
external phantom power supply. Phantom power is blocked from the splitter's
outputs, including the direct out.
Therefore, with the "P" versions, PHANTOM POWER WILL NOT PASS THROUGH THE
SPLITTER FROM YOUR MIXING CONSOLE. Use the SPC82 or SPC83 model when you will
be providing phantom power from the mixing console and NOT from an external
power supply.
A
loop through feature on the phantom connection allows a single DCSP1 to provide
phantom power to multiple units, limited only by total current draw of up to
500mA.

LINE BALANCER/SPLITTER
This handy tool balances and isolates a single line level signal or lets you
send a line level signal to two destinations with transformer balancing and
isolation for one or both of the outputs. The
balancing provides superior noise rejection when you have equipment
with unbalanced outputs that need to feed equipment with balanced
inputs. The transformer isolation helps eliminate unwanted hum and buzz
caused by power line and grounding issues.
In ISO mode the signal is passed directly through to one output
and transformer isolated to the second output.
In SPLIT mode the signal is transformer isolated to both outputs with a
resulting 6dB drop in level at each output.
A ground lift switch is provided for each output.
Both a female XLR and a 1/4" TRS jack are provided for the input signal.
Male XLR connectors are used for the output signals.
Also available in a 2-channel iso/balancer unit (without splitting) for stereo
applications. See the
ISO-2
.
Operating Level:
Input: -10dBm to +26dBm
Output: -10dBm to +26dBm (ISO mode), -16dBm to +20dBm (SPLIT
mode)
Frequency Response: 20Hz-20kHz ±1dB

Sometimes you won't have a separate amp channel available for every
headphone you need to drive.
Our passive headphone breakout box
divides a standard power amplifier output to feed 6 separate headphone
outputs.
A resistor divider network protects your amp and helps
compensate for differences in brands and models of headphones.
Multiple boxes can be daisy-chained together with Whirlwind ST Series
cables if more outputs are needed.
